Biography
During his coaching career, Mungwa has been the interim coach of the Zambian national team three times. In 1997, he became at the helm of the team after the resignation of Roald Poulsen . In 1998, after losing to the 1998 Africa Cup of Nations group stage match with a score of 0: 4 to Egypt, he replaced Burkhard Ziese and controlled Zambia in the third match of the tournament with Mozambique (3: 1). In 2000, for the third time, he served as the head coach of the Zambian national team.
In March 2002, Mungwa was taken to the universityβs clinical hospital with hypertension , diabetes and meningitis . Despite his condition, he was sure that he would recover. However, on March 10, 2002, at 14:00, George Mungwa died [1] .
