Design

The design of the bomb was a rail launcher, similar to the army rocket-propelled mortars BM-13 . Two rail-type launching machines, having a constant elevation angle of 15 Β°, were installed in the bow of the ship parallel to its diametrical plane. Each of the machines had four guides. The aiming for firing was carried out by correcting the course of the ship, the generation of data for firing by control instruments located at the main command post of the ship. Of the two launching machines, a simultaneous salvo of eight depth charges was carried forward in the direction of the ship at a distance of 260 m.

Performance Specifications

  • Firing range: 260 m (RBM), 1188-1467 m (RSL-12, depending on air temperature)
  • Explosion Depth: up to 210 m (RBM), up to 330 m (RSL-12)
  • Immersion speed: 3.2 m / s (RBM), 6-8 m / s (RSL-12)
  • Circular probable deviation : ellipse 40-85 m (RBM), ellipse 70-120 m (RSL-12)

Ammunition

RBM - deep jet bomb, fuse K-3. In 1954 it was replaced by K-3M (developed by Plant No. 42 of the Ministry of Agriculture), which provided an explosion at depths of 10 to 330 m and a contact explosion at depths of 25 to 330 m. Mass - 56 kg Mass of explosives - 25 kg

RSL-12 (adopted in 1953) - contact-remote fuse KDV (developed by GosNII-582 MSHM), fires at a depth of 10 to 330 m when it hits an obstacle or soil. Explosive weight - 32 kg
