Biography
Viktor Nikolayevich Yagodinsky was born on February 9, 1928 at the Mishkino station of the Mishkinsky village council of the Mishkinsky district of the Chelyabinsk district of the Ural region of the RSFSR (now Kurgan region ) in a family of railway teachers Nikolai Viktorovich and Valentina Ilinichna (Turovskaya) Yagodinsky [1] . Father died at the beginning of World War II . Grandfather, Viktor Timofeevich Yagodinsky was the dean of the 3rd deanery district of the Kurgan district (he lived in the village of Glyadyansky ). Grandfather, Ilya Mikhailovich Turovsky (1882-1950) was the head of the post office, then the legal adviser of the Kochkarzoloto trust.
Around 1932–33, the family lived in a village. Aryk-Balyk, now Arykbalyk , now North Kazakhstan region . Around 1934, the family moved to the working village of Kulomzinsky of the Kirov city district of Omsk , where his father was the director of school No. 1. He went to first class at the Berezayka station in the Kalinin (now Tver) region, and by the beginning of the war the family lived in Belev, Tula region , where his father was the director of Lomonosov Secondary School No. 24, from where his mother and grandfather I.M. left with the outbreak of war Turovsky to the city of Plast, Chelyabinsk region .
From the age of 14 (1942) he worked as a watchman-borer in the gold-mining artel in the city of Plast , at the Artyom plant of the Kochkarzoloto trust. He studied externally in grades 8 and 9 (he came to school two times a week, received tasks, answered questions on various subjects) and in 1947 he graduated from school in grades 10 with a silver medal .
In the same year he entered the Naval Medical Academy ( Leningrad ), which he graduated in 1953. For 25 years he served on ships and in parts of the Navy of the USSR . Even at the Academy, he took up scientific work - to find anti-cancer antibiotics . During the military service he was the head of the medical unit of the destroyer “ Crushing ”, and after completing specialization courses in bacteriology, virology and especially dangerous infections, he was transferred by the bacteriologist to the SEL DKBF Baltiysk and participated in anti-epidemic measures of the Baltic and Pacific fleets.
While serving in the city of Sovetskaya Gavan , he took part in the development of a vaccine against tick-borne encephalitis, tested the effect of the vaccine on himself, consciously infecting himself, prepared and defended his Ph.D. thesis "Epidemiological Features of Tick-borne Encephalitis in Northern Primorye " [2] . One of the main features of this infection is the frequency of its ups and downs by seasons and years. Knowing the reasons for such a cycle, it is possible to clarify the time of the epidemic rise and organize the prevention of human infection. The analysis revealed a clear dependence of epidemic cycles on solar rhythms, which was facilitated by the acquaintance with A. L. Chizhevsky . Since 1965 he served as a bacteriologist in Liepaja .
After retirement after years of service in 1969, he worked at the Institute of Parasitology in Rostov-on-Don on the problem of hemorrhagic fever. In 1970 he moved to Moscow and worked in the Sanitary and Epidemiological Service , in 1971 he headed the laboratory (department) of general epidemiology and ACS at the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology , and then at the Main Computing Center of the USSR Ministry of Health . On the basis of machine processing of statistical and epidemiological data, he prepared and in 1972 defended his doctoral dissertation “Cyclicality of the epidemic process” [3] , the theme of which was proposed by A. L. Chizhevsky . In it, V. N. Yagodinsky developed the main provisions of Chizhevsky’s work and gave modern theoretical and practical justifications for epidemic forecasts, a number of fundamentally new scientific provisions were established on the dynamics of the epidemic process in connection with solar cycles , and he formulated a unified concept of the biosphere rhythm genetics in connection with the influence of the Cosmos that is a new word in science. This is reflected in a number of scientific monographs. V.N. Yagodinsky is the initiator and real developer of cardinal scientific directions: the cosmic ecology of the biosphere and social psychophysics, which stem from Chizhevsky’s works and correspond to modern problems of earth sciences and society.
He was personally familiar and collaborated with the founder of heliobiology A. L. Chizhevsky . The scientific biography of Chizhevsky published by him greatly contributes to the comprehension of the work of this outstanding cosmist and the establishment of the name of a Russian scientist in world science. A rare combination of a doctor who has mastered the basics of cosmobiology, and attracted Chizhevsky to a young and energetic professional who received a basic education in epidemiology , microbiology , zoology and parasitology .
Yagodinsky identified the epidemiological section of the space ecology of the biosphere and an independent branch of the doctrine of cycles. Actually, this is what Yagodinsky’s book is called: “The Doctrine of Epidemic Cycles.” Helioepidemiology: strategy and prognosis ”(2006). The work was signed by the Central Institute of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation with a preface by its director, which testifies to the scientific recognition of this Doctrine. In the first part there is not a single word about solar activity as a source of cyclical epidemics. There are no other a priori judgments on this subject. For the first time (since 1964), a scientist in the biomedical sciences carries out analysis by computer methods according to the programs adopted in these cases. He showed the multi-rhythmic nature of the epidemic process and proved the dependence of long-term rhythms on changes in the severity of its seasonal fluctuations. Thus, the author on the basis of modern methods confirmed the fundamental principles of the dependence of "epidemic disasters" on solar activity and switched to the practical use of the results for monitoring and forecasting.
V.N. Yagodinsky made tremendous efforts to organize and conduct scientific conferences and readings in memory of Chizhevsky , starting from the first meeting in the history of science on solar-biospheric communications and ending with the opening of the Cosmos Institute A. L. Chizhevsky. For the creation of a new scientific field in medicine, Heliopidemiology was awarded the diploma of the laureate of the academic prize in the field of science and technology named after A. L. Chizhevsky ( Kaluga - Obninsk , 2004).
Viktor Nikolaevich Yagodinsky died in Moscow on September 29, 2017 .
Family
Viktor Nikolaevich Yagodinsky was married, two children and grandchildren.
Achievements
Full member of the Academies of Psychoteropia, Creative Studies and Prediction.
He was also a member of the Scientific Council of the Joint Scientific Center for Space Thinking Problems of the International Center of the Roerichs .
He conducted a great public work, until the end of his life he was engaged in educational activities.
As a member of the Society of Medical Writers, he launched an intensive struggle against drunkenness, smoking and drug addiction, having published for the first time in Russia books on this subject for schoolchildren and teachers in many languages of the peoples of the former USSR and Eastern Europe.
He is an active participant in the spiritual and environmental movement, the author of books on ecology , ethics and etiquette , as well as popular books on health protection, awarded a number of prizes.
Patriarch of space science. Currently, he has focused on the study of cosmophysical factors in the development of mankind, which he generalizes in the concept of cosmic science. He prepared and published about 60 books and more than 200 articles on the space ecology of the biosphere and society.
In addition, V.N. Yagodinsky is known as a popularizer of science. He has published 40 books and brochures with a total circulation of more than 5 million copies in 18 languages on the problems of science and human health. The most significant of scientific biographies: the scientific biography of A. L. Chizhevsky (1st ed. 1987, 2nd ed. 2005) and A. A. Bogdanov (2006).
He was awarded the Golden Pen Prize of the Russian Writers Union.
