General Information
Ruben's father - Jose Maria - the owner of a sports store; mother - Janine - a housewife; his two older sisters are called Rebecca and Raquel. Married to a girl named Christina; has two daughters: Martina and Valeria.
He began to play tennis at the age of 8 with his parents. Favorite coating is soil. He is fond of sports and walking with friends.
Sports career
In professional tennis since 1998. From 1999 to 2001, Ruben won six futures tournaments. In September 2001, he made his debut in the main competitions of the ATP tour at a tournament in Bucharest and was able to get into the second round. In 2002, he won two Challenger tournaments in Brasov and Barcelona . In June 2003, he won another Challenger in Kosice . This result allowed the Spaniard to enter the Top 100 singles rating. In July, at the ATP tournament in Amersfoort he managed to reach the quarter finals, and then at the tournament in Sopot reached the semifinals. In August 2003, Ramirez made his debut at the Grand Slam Tournament of the US Open . In March 2004, at the tournament in Acapulco he goes to the quarterfinals, and in July he achieves the same result at the tournament in Gstaad .
In February 2005, Ruben entered the quarter finals of the tournament in Viña del Mar. In May of that year, the Challenger wins in Ljubljana . In September, he gets into the quarterfinal at a tournament in Bucharest. In February 2006, Ramirez manages to reach the semi-finals of the tournament in Viña del Mar, having won in the second round match of number 8 at that time in the world of Gaston Gaudio 6-7 (6) 6-1 6-4. Two weeks later, at a tournament in Buenos Aires, he manages to win in the second round match of another titled Argentine Guillermo Corya (No. 7 in the world) 7-5 6-2 and reach the quarter finals. At the French Open 2006, he achieves his highest achievement in the Grand Slam series tournaments - reaching the fourth round. On the way to this result, he outplayed Thierry Hacion , Christoph Rochus and David Ferrer . The way to the quarterfinals was blocked by No. 4 in the world Ivan Lubichich . In July of the same year, he reached the semifinals at the tournament in Amersfoort. In September, his main results were reaching the quarter-finals in Bucharest and the semi-finals in Palermo . In October, in the singles ranking he climbed to the highest 50th place in his career.
In February 2007, in doubles, he managed to reach the final of the ATP tournaments three times (in Viña del Mar, Costa de Suipe and Buenos Aires), speaking together with Albert Montanes . In April 2007, Ramirez reached the semi-finals of the tournament in Casablanca . In January 2008, Ruben won the Challenger in La Serena . In September 2009, he entered the quarterfinals of the tournament in Bucharest. In March 2010, he won the Challenger in Rabat , in June in Kosice, and in July in Posoblanko . In April 2012, he was submitted to the Challengers in San Luis Potosi and Tunisia . In April 2013, he reached the quarterfinals in Houston and won the Challenger in Panama .
