Mesocinetus mongolicus (lat.) Is a fossil species of beetles of the genus Mesocinetus from the extinct family Mesocinetidae (superfamily Scirtoidea ). Found in the Lower Cretaceous sediments of Central Asia (Gurvaneren Formation, Gurvan-Eren Fm., 8 km north of Somon Myangad [2] , Kobdos aymak , Mongolia ). The body is small in size (length about 2.6 mm, width 1.55 mm, length of elytra 2.10 mm). Pronotum convex anterior, mesocoxes in contact, oblique metacoxes almost reaching posterior margin of 1st ventrite; metacox femoral tires narrow. The species was first described by fingerprints in 1986 by the Soviet entomologist Alexander Georgievich Ponomarenko ( Paleontological Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences , Moscow , Russia ). Type species for the genus Mesocinetus [1] [3] [4] [5] .
