The massacre in Meluza - the massacre of the inhabitants of the village of Meluza by partisans of the National Liberation Front during the War of Independence of Algeria .
In May 1957, the TNF fighters entered Melusa and began capturing local male residents, shooting individuals along the way. At the end of the day, all prisoners (men over 15 years old) were gathered in the center of the village and killed with firearms, axes and knives [1] . The number of victims in different sources ranges from 300 [2] to 500 [3] .
The FNO spokesman, Franz Fanon, accused the French army of organizing the crime [2] .
In 1988, the former field commander of the FLN, Mohammed Said, in an interview with Algerian television, acknowledged that the Meluz massacre was organized on his order [2] .
