History
The need for another, in addition to the Church of St. Casimir , the church in New Vilnius arose due to the rapid growth of residents and the military garrison stationed here.
Since 1903, there has been a Catholic chapel on the territory of the psychiatric hospital in New Vilnius. In its place in 1938 the construction of a new church was started, designed by architect Jan Borovsky. The temple was to be named after St. Stanislav Kostka . It was built by Polish soldiers. With the outbreak of World War II, the construction of the temple ceased.
The constructed building was used as a gym, then it was leased to a winery, later to the construction department for a warehouse.
After the restoration of independence of Lithuania, an initiative group was formed to create a parish with its own temple. After completion of construction work on June 8, 2002, the church was consecrated in the name of the Blessed Virgin Mary of the Queen [1] .
