Biography
Ian Pace spent his childhood in Nottingham and Bister ( Eng. , Oxfordshire ), where his family moved. In his early youth, he was more interested in the violin , but at the age of 15 he switched to drums: “... In the end, I bought a drum kit for 32 pounds and started accompanying my pianist father, who played waltzes and quicksteps . The music was sweet, but it was nothing, but it was still the beginning. ” [one]
Pace soon became part of the Oxfordshire group Georgie and the Rave Ons , which later became known as The Shindigs . He left her to join MI5 , a group later renamed The Maze . Jazz musicians: Gene Krupa , Buddy Rich and others had a strong influence on all of Pace’s further work. He became one of the first hard rock drummers who managed to bring elements of swing and jazz techniques into his style.
After the collapse of Deep Purple, Iain Pace becomes a member of the new supergroup Paice, Ashton & Lord in 1976. The group, which also includes vocalist and keyboardist Tony Ashton , organist John Lord , guitarist / vocalist Bernie Marsden and bassist Paul Martinez, recorded one album, Malice In Wonderland , and played only five concerts. Tony Ashton loved playing concerts in small clubs. In 1977, the group split up during the recording of their second album.
In 1979, David Coverdale asked Ian Pace to join Whitesnake for a Japan tour and recording of the Lovehunter album. Pace remained a member of the group for the next three years. He has appeared on the albums Ready an 'Willing (1980), Live ... in the Heart of the City (1980), Come an' Get It (1981) and Saints & Sinners (1982). Due to musical disagreements with Coverdale, Pais left Whitesnake in 1982.
In November 1982, Ian Pace joined Gary Moore to record Corridors of Power . After that, Pais was invited to join the Gary Moore Band. Pace’s collaboration with Moore lasted until April 1984, when Deep Purple reunited.
In the late 1980s, Pace participated in in-session work with Pete York and George Harrison. In 1999, Paul McCartney invited Pace to record his album “Run Devil Run”, after which a series of joint concerts took place, culminating in a performance on December 14, 1999 in the liverpool club “ The Cavern ” [2] .
On September 17, 2000, in the Austrian city of Gmunden, Iain Pace performed with the best drummers in the world at the Superdrumming 2000 festival.

Personal life
Ian Pace is married with three children: James, Emmy and Kelly. His wife, Jackie, is the twin sister of Vicki Lord, the wife of John Lord, Pais’s partner for Deep Purple, Whitesnake and Paice, Ashton & Lord. A characteristic feature of Pace's style is glasses, which are almost always blue (sometimes also green or purple).
