Rabita ( Arabic. رابطة - connection, bond) - in Sufism , the spiritual connection between the student and his mentor or the " saint ." One of the steps to the comprehension of the deity and dissolution in it.
Rabita is characteristic of eastern sufis. It is achieved by concentrating the thoughts of the murid on the image of the murshid, as well as communicating with him and dissolving his personality in him. In some treatises of the Nakshbandi and Kadiri sheikhs, the Rabit was considered preferable to the Zikr [1] .
According to the teachings of Sufism, in order to achieve a state of intimacy with Allah, the “traveler” (salik) must establish a spiritual connection with a specific person through whom he could make this connection. Such an object is a Sufi sheikh [2] .
