Biography
Solomon Kirillovich Tautiev was born in 1909 in the Tmenikau settlement in a peasant family. He graduated from the party school in Ordzhonikidze. In 1930 he entered the Institute of Theatrical Art in Moscow, which he graduated in 1935. Returning to Ordzhonikidze, he played the main role of the surgeon Plato in the play “Plato Krechet”, which was the first performance of the Ossetian Drama Theater formed in 1935 [1] .
He fell ill with tuberculosis and died on June 9, 1946, and was buried in the territory of the Ossetian church necropolis [2] .
Memory
- The street in Vladikavkaz is named after Solomon Tautiev.
Awards and titles
- In 1946, at the direction of I. V. Stalin, he was awarded the Order of Lenin for outstanding services, despite the fact that the highest order of the country was usually awarded with other Orders of the USSR.
- In 1940 he was awarded the title "People's Artist of the North Ossetian ASSR", thereby becoming its first owner.
