Stylops izumoensis

Stylops izumoensis (lat.) - a species of fan - winged insects of the genus Stylops from the family Stylopidae . Japan ( Shimane Prefecture , Honshu ) [1] . Cephalothorax length 1.18 mm, maximum width 1.25 mm; intermandibular distance of 0.17 mm. It is characterized by the subpentagonal form of cephalothorax and pigmentation of its posterior part. Parasites of bees of the species Andrena (Simandrena) opacifovea ( Andrena , Andrenidae ). It is close to the species Stylops dominiquei found on bees Andrena (Agandrena) agilissima and to Stylops nassonowi found on bees Andrena (Phstandrena) carbonaria . The species was first described in 1990 by Japanese entomologists Teifi Kifune (Department of Parasitology, School of Medicine, , Fukuoka ) and Yasuo Maeta (Division of Environmental Biology, Faculty of Agriculture, , Japan ) [1] [2] [3] . In one of the new works on the genus Stylops , during the analysis of DNA by the authors (Straka et al., 2015), it is considered as a supposed synonym for the species? = Stylops yamatonis Kifune & Hirashima, 1985 (in the status of “Supposed new junior subjective synonym”, which for 2018 the year is not confirmed by the relevant specialized databases, for example, Eol.org and Strepsiptera database) [4] [5] .
