Fender sold his own company of the same name in 1965. In the seventies, he developed instruments for Music Man . When relations with this company deteriorated, G&L was created to continue its business independently of it. The name G&L comes from the initials George (Fullerton) and Leo (Fender).
G&L tools are similar to the classic Fender, but with some modern innovations. They are produced at the same facility on Fender Avenue in Fullerton, California, which produced Music Man's early series instruments. G&L instruments are not widespread, but are highly regarded by many musicians and collectors.
