In the 2012–2013 season, Raanta as a member of the Eschat team ( Pori ) became the champion of Finland [1] , and in the 2014–15 season he played as part of the Chicago Blackhawks National Hockey League , who won the Stanley Cup that season.

Club career
Lucco
Raanta is a pupil of the club " Lucco " from the city of Rauma [1] . In March 2008, he extended the contract with Lucco for three years [2] . In the 2008/2009 season, Raanta won the bronze medal of the Finnish Junior Hockey Championship, becoming the best in the percentage of reflected shots (92.2%). In the same season he was called up to Lucco, who played in the Finnish Hockey League, but he did not play a single match. In the same season, Raanta played two games in the Second Finnish Hockey League for the Finnish youth team [1] .
In the 2009/2010 season, Raanta began playing in the Finnish Hockey League . He made his debut on September 22, 2009 in a guest match against the Pelicans ( Lahti ) team and, reflecting 20 shots, he contributed to the victory of Lucco with a score of 7: 3 [3] . The first three games of Raanta ended in victories, and in the third match on November 10, 2009, against KalPa from Kuopio, he played his first dry match, repelling 27 shots [4] . The newspaper "Ilta-Sanomat" called him the second star of the match [5] . At the beginning of the season, Raanta remained in the shadow of Petri Vehanen , however, he was able to use the game time provided to him as successfully as possible. When Vehanen was exchanged for the Ak Bars KHL club , Michael Tellkvist came to replace him in Lucco. In the remaining matches after Vehanen left, Raanta began to receive on average as much playing time as Tellqvist did. Raanta did not play in the playoffs, since all the games were entrusted to Tellkvist.
The 2010/2011 season, Raanta began as the second goalkeeper under Miik Wiikman . When Viikman was sold to Ilves ( Tampere ) during the season, Lucco took Mika Noronen as the main goalkeeper. In total, for the season Raanta played 20 matches in the regular season and two matches in the playoffs against KalP, replacing Noronen [6] . In the spring of 2011, he won the bronze medal as part of Lucco.
The Essat
In April 2011, Raanta signed a two-year contract with the club " Essat " ( Pori ) [7] . He started the season 2011/2012 for the first time as the main goalkeeper of the Finnish Hockey League club [8] .
In the 2012/2013 season , a real breakthrough came for Raanta. In February 2013, he was elected player of the month. According to the results of the regular season, Antti had the best coefficient of reliability (1.85) and the best percentage of reflected throws (94.3). In the playoffs, he played in all 16 matches, becoming the champion of Finland together with the “Essat”. Raanta also had the best playoff ratio in the playoffs (1.33) and the best percentage of reflected shots (95.5). He was elected to the “all stars” of the Finnish Hockey League, in addition, he won the Urpo Ülönen prize for the best goalkeeper of the league, the prize for Lasse Oksanen for the best player in the regular season and the prize for Jari Kurri for the best playoff player [1] .
Chicago Blackhawks
In May 2013, the HIFK club ( Helsinki ) announced the conclusion of a two-year contract with Raanta [9] . However, in June, Raanta signed a one-year newbie contract with the NHL club Chicago Blackhawks [10] . On November 17, 2013, he was called from the Rockford Ishogs AHL club to Blackhawks, when Nikolai Khabibulin, the team’s second goalkeeper, was injured in a game with Nashville Predators [11] . On November 19, 2013, Raanta played his first NHL game, taking the field to replace Corey Crawford in the match against Colorado Avalanche , deflecting 14 shots from 16. December 30, Raanta played his first dry match in the NHL against the Los Angeles Kings , having reflected all 26 throws.
He began the season with a balance of wins and losses of 10-1-3. Thanks to good performance at the end of 2013, Raantu (along with Martin Jones ) was named the best rookie of the month in the NHL. In December 2013, Raanta played 12 matches with a percentage of reflected shots of 91.2 and a safety factor of 2.23, including one shutout [12] [13] .
In June 2014, Blackhawks announced the extension of the contract with Raanta for a period of two years [14] . During the playoffs in the spring of 2015, Raanta was never included in the Blackhawks, watching all matches from the rostrum. By the decision of the club, his name was not engraved on the Stanley Cup , which caused a lot of noise. To put Raanta’s name on the trophy, the team had to submit a special application, since according to formal criteria (at least 41 matches played in the regular season or at least one appearance in the Stanley Cup finals, including as a reserve goalkeeper), he did not deserve to be named on the trophy [15] . That season, Raanta was included in the team in 53 matches, mainly as a reserve goalkeeper, having gone on ice in only 14 matches [16] . However, he still received the Stanley Cup holder ring [17] and the right to bring the Stanley Cup to Finland for one day [16] .
New York Rangers
On June 27, 2015, the Chicago Blackhawks gave Raant to the New York Rangers in exchange for striker Sean Haggerty [18] .
Since the undisputed main goalkeeper of the New York Rangers was Henrik Lundqvist , Raanta had to compete for the second goalkeeper with Magnus Hellberg , who was eventually sent to the AHL. In his first match for the Rangers against San Jose on October 19, 2015, Raanta played for zero, becoming the fourth goalkeeper of the team who played his debut match for zero (the last time he got to it was Marcel Pye in 1957). He also became the first Rangers goalkeeper to win his first four games in a row. On December 17, 2015, in the game against Minnesota Wild , Raanta came out in the first team, but after the puck hit him in the head, he left the ice, and the next day he was listed as injured. Initially, he was expected to be absent for 2-3 weeks, but he recovered faster and returned to the squad on December 28. In his absence, the Rangers were returned to Hellberg as a second goalkeeper. Of his eight last matches of the season, Raanta won seven with one defeat with a reliability coefficient of 1.75 and a percentage of reflected throws of 94.1. In total, in the 2015/16 season, Raanta set a personal record for the number of matches played and took eighth place in the NHL in terms of reliability. Antti made his debut in the playoffs on April 13, 2016 in the first game of the first round against the Pittsburgh Penguins , having played a total of three matches. Among the goalkeepers who have gone ice in at least 15 games over the past two seasons, Raanta ranked second in terms of reliability coefficient (2.10) and fourth in percentage of reflected throws (92.6).
On May 2, 2016, Raanta signed a new two-year contract with the New York Rangers, according to which he will receive $ 1 million per year [19] . In the 2016/17 season, the Finnish goalkeeper started as a starting goalkeeper in 26 matches, and all his statistics were better than Lundqvist, who started 55 games. But still in the playoffs, it was Henrik who was the main goalkeeper.
Due to the possibility of losing the goalkeeper for free on the expansion draft on June 23, 2016, the Rangers exchanged Ranta with Derek Stepan in Arizona Coyotes for Anthony Deangelo and the 7th draft pick in 2017 ( Lias Andersson ) [20] .
Arizona Coyotes
After the exchange, Arizona general manager John Chaika said that the Finnish goalkeeper will be the first number of the team [21] . Due to several injuries, Raanta spent only 47 matches, but showed an excellent game, and therefore, on April 6, 2018, Coyotes extended the contract with the goalkeeper for 3 years in the amount of $ 12.75 million [22] .
Career Finnish Team
The head coach of the Finnish national team Jukka Jalonen invited Raanta to join the team to participate in the 2013 World Cup . For the first time in his career, he defended the goal as the goalkeeper of the Finnish national team in the national team at such a high level in the game against the Slovak national team [23] [24] . Finland won the match with a score 2: 0 thanks to the goals of Juhamatti Aaltonen and Petri Kontiola, and having reflected 36 shots, Raanta was named the best player of the match [25] .
Family
In 1963, Raanta’s grandfather, Pekka Ulsten was the Finnish hockey champion in the club “Lucco” (Rauma) [26] . His older brother Mikko also became a goalkeeper [1] .
