Upper Chehalis ( Chehalis, Kwaiailk, Upper Chehalis ) is a dead Indian language that belongs to the Camo branch of the coastal Salish group of the Salish language family, which the Chekhalis used to speak, living south of Puget Sound , Washington state in the United States. In some classifications, the upper chehmalis is closer to the Coolitz language than to the lower chehalis language. It differs from the language of halcomel . The last carrier died in 2001 (Golla 2007).
