Biography

In 1831 he graduated from the Institute of Railway Engineers Corps [1] [2] .

After graduation, Ferdinand Taube built embankments along the Neva at Tsaritsyn Luga (the Field of Mars , currently not preserved) and on Vasilievsky Island. Under the leadership of his senior institute friend Yegor Andreevich Adam, he worked on the construction of a section of the embankment with a large granite marina and Egyptian sphinxes in front of the Academy of Arts (project by architect K. Ton ).

In 1836, F.I. Taube, the only railway engineer, became a shareholder in the construction of Russia's first public railway, St. Petersburg - Tsarskoye Selo [2] . In 1837, on the recommendation of the construction manager F. A. Gerstner , engineer-captain Baron F. Taube was offered the position of observer for the construction of the road "from the Way Department." Since November 1838, after commissioning the Tsarskoye Selo Railway, Taube was an active member of the Road Management Board for almost 11 years [2] .

One of the authors of the project for the construction of the Nikolaev railway (St. Petersburg - Moscow), the author of the project of the railway St. Petersburg - Peterhof - Oranienbaum - Krasnaya Gorka. In the same period, he was simultaneously an associate professor of mathematics at the Institute of the Corps of Railway Engineers. In 1847, he stopped teaching because he was appointed manager of the Tsarskoye Selo Railway and was in this position until 1860.

Together with Count A. A. Bobrinsky created the Department of Railways of Russia.

In 1838, F.I. Taube accepted Russian citizenship. In 1842 he received a patent for the Russian nobility, and in 1865 - the right to a baronial title.

He ended his career as a colonel engineer, a full-time state adviser , correcting the position of vice director of the Russian Railways Department [2] .

He was buried in the “Taube Chapel” on the Lutheran site of the Kazan cemetery of Tsarskoye Selo [2] .

He was twice married. Wife - Anna Louise von Bergman (1813-1847) [2] ;

Wife - Elizaveta Ivanovna (1827-1893), daughter of General I.I. Vashutin [2] ;

  • 7 children, including:
    • Mikhail (1855-1924), mathematician, philosopher, poet, publicist;
    • Sergey (1877-1931), major general; shot;
    • Dmitry (1876-1933), staff captain [2] .
