Shasta ( Sastean, Shasta, Shastan ) - a dead (inactive) Shastan or isolated language that was previously spoken by the Shasta people who live in the state of Northern California in the United States. He also had 4 dialects, including the Okvanuq dialect. By 1980, there were two fluent people left, both elderly and living. Currently, the remaining Shasta speak English. The people combined their identity with the Karuka tribe and are considered as speakers of the Karuka language to be their linguistic heritage.
