Peter Sodje ( English Efetobore Peter "Efe" Sodje ; born October 5, 1972 in London , England ) is a Nigerian footballer , defender known for his performances for Bury , Stevenage Borough , Crewe Alexander and Nigeria national team . Member of the 2002 World Cup in Japan and South Korea .

Efe was born and grew up in London in a family of immigrants from Nigeria . He has three brothers who also play sports. Together with Akpo, he played for Huddersfield Town for a long time, and Sam was a partner of Ephebor on the national team . Bright Sodje is a professional rugby player. Nephew Efe, Onom is also a football player.

Club career

Sodje began his career at Stevenage Borough . In the 1995/1996 season, he helped the team win a football conference . For three years, Efe spent a total of 138 matches for the club and scored 13 goals. In 1997, he moved to Macclesfield Town , with whom he won second place in the third English division in his first season. In 1999, Sodge left Macclesfield and, without much success, played for Luton Town and Colchester United . In 2000, he moved to the Alexander Cru . In the new team, he immediately became one of the leaders and thanks to the confident game he was able to win a ticket to the world championship . In the 2002/2003 season, Efe helped the team finished second.

In 2003, Sodje moved to Huddersfield Town . August 12 in the English League Cup match against Derby County , he debuted for a new club. For Huddersfield, Efe played with his brother Akpo . In 2005, Efe left the team and until 2008 changed many clubs, having played for Yeovil Town , Southend United , and Gillingham . In 2008, Sodje signed an agreement with Bury , where he reanimated his career, becoming one of the club leaders and his playing coach. In January 2012, in a duel against Charlton Athletic , Efe spent his 500th career match. In 2013, he was on loan for Barrow , and in the summer of the same year he returned to Macclesfield Town as playing assistant coach.

International Career

In 2000, Efe made his debut for the national team of Nigeria . In the same year, he was included in the application of the national team to participate in the African Cup of Nations . Sodje won the silver medal, but did not spend a single minute on the field.

In 2002, Efe, as part of the national team, took part in the World Championships in Japan and South Korea . At the tournament he played in matches against Argentina [1] and England [2] .
