Roman Gafanovich Nazirov (02/04/1934, Kharkov - 01/16/2004, Ufa) - Russian literary critic, doctor of philological sciences, professor, author of the monograph “Creative Principles of F. M. Dostoevsky”, several dozen articles on the history of folklore motifs and various aspects of Russian poetics 19th century literature.

Biography
In his youth, he dreamed of becoming a historian. In 1952, he successfully passed entrance exams to the Faculty of History at the State Pedagogical Institute. A.I. Herzen in Leningrad. R. G. Nazirov honestly wrote in the questionnaire that his father, Gaffan Shamgunovich Nazirov, was repressed, and excellent marks in the entrance exams did not help: the young man was not accepted into Leningrad institutes. In 1953, R. G. Nazirov entered the historical and philological faculty of the Bashkir State Pedagogical Institute. K.A. Timiryazeva. After graduating from the faculty in 1957, he worked as a teacher in a rural school of the Aurgazinsky district of Bashkiria, in the Ufa newspaper Leninets. In 1962-1965 - Postgraduate studies at the Department of Russian Literature at Moscow State University; in 1966 he defended his thesis on "Social and ethical issues of the works of F. M. Dostoevsky in 1859-1866." For almost forty years, the scientist worked at Bashkir State University. Since 1992, he headed the department of Russian literature and folklore of Bashkir State University. Research interests: Russian and foreign literature, mythology, cultural studies. In 1995, he defended his doctoral dissertation “Traditions of Pushkin and Gogol in Russian prose. Comparative History of Stories. ” Founder and first editor of the University’s large-circulation newspaper “Chair” (the first issue of the newspaper, then called the “Banner of October”, was published in 1967). In the works of R. G. Nazirov, the formulation of large-scale problems was combined with close attention to detail, and the wide coverage of the analyzed phenomena with extreme accuracy and aphoristic formulations. The scientist's excellent erudition allowed him to freely and naturally trace the connection from folklore sources to literary phenomena of the 20th century. After the death of the scientist, some of his works of art, lyrical prose, and manuscripts from the archive were published.
