Biography
Born on January 1, 1909 in Krasnoyarsk, in a working class family. Russian. He graduated from junior high school in Tashkent.
In the Red Army since 1927. In 1930 he graduated from the Central Asian United Military Aviation School, and in 1932 - the 3rd Military School of Pilots and Pilots in the city of Orenburg, courses instructors parachuting. Member of the CPSU (b) / CPSU since 1938.
Member of the Soviet-Finnish war of 1939-1940 . By February 1940, he made about fifty combat sorties on aerial photographic reconnaissance of fortified areas and the attack of enemy troops in the crew of Lieutenant Pinchuk. On February 2, 1940, during a return from a reconnaissance flight over Suursari Island, his plane was attacked by a Finnish fighter. He was seriously injured and caught fire. However, the pilot still managed to put him on the ice. The crew of Lieutenant Pinchuk, who made an emergency landing in the zone of the Finnish coastal batteries, handed over important intelligence to the command. Soon, the flying boat MBR-2, Captain A. A. Gubriya from the 18th squadron of the Air Force of the Baltic Fleet to its airfield was found and taken out.
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of February 7, 1940, for exemplary performance of the command tasks and courage and heroism shown, senior lieutenant Kharlamov Vasily Maksimovich was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal .
In 1941 he graduated from the Yeisk Naval Aviation School named after Stalin . Member of the Great Patriotic War since 1941. He fought as a flight commander and a squadron of naval aviation of the Black Sea and Baltic fleets. In 1943 he graduated from the accelerated course of the Naval Academy.
After the war, he continued service in the USSR Air Force. Since 1948, Major V. M. Kharlamov is in reserve. He lived in the hero-city of Leningrad. He died on March 23, 1986. He was buried in St. Petersburg at the Northern Cemetery .
He was awarded the Order of Lenin , two Orders of the Red Banner , Orders of the Patriotic War, 1 st degree, the Red Star , and medals.
