Penshen ( Chinese command 彭山 , pinyin : Péngshān ) is a district subordinate to the city of Meishan district, Sichuan province ( China ).

History
During the time of the Qin empire, the Weihan County (武 阳县) existed here. Under the Western Han Empire, the Jianwei District (犍为 郡) was formed. Under Liang's empire, it was transformed into Linshi county (灵石 县), later renamed Jianwei county (犍为县). During the Western Wei Empire, it was renamed Longshan (隆 县), and under the Tan Empire it was renamed Penshan.
In 1950, the Meishan Special District (区 专区) was formed, uniting 10 counties. It was disbanded in 1953, and the Meishan, Penshan, Qingshen, Jiajiang, Hongya and Danlen counties became part of the Leshan Special District (乐 专). In 1959, Penshan County was annexed to Meishan County , but restored in 1962. In 1968, the Leshan Special District was renamed Leshan District (乐山 地区). In 1985, the district of Leshan was transformed into the urban district of Leshan . In 1997, six counties of the Leshan City District were separated into a separate Meishan District (眉山).
In 2000, by a resolution of the State Council of the People's Republic of China, the Meishan District was transformed into a city district.
In 2014, Penshan County was transformed into an area of urban subordination.
