Critical coagulation concentration ( Coagulation threshold, CCC, English critical coagulation concentration, critical aggregation concentration ) is the minimum concentration of coagulant at which rapid coagulation occurs.

Description

The critical concentration of coagulation is highly dependent on the type of colloidal system and coagulant. For coagulant electrolytes, the effectiveness of the coagulating action increases sharply with increasing ion charge. The critical concentration of coagulation is inversely proportional to the 6th degree of charge (empirical Schulze-Hardy rule): C ~ 1 / z 6 .
