Anastacia ( Rus. Anastacia ) is the third studio album by American singer Anastacia , released on March 29, 2004 via Epic Records . The album was a great commercial success, reaching the pinnacle of album charts in a number of countries, including Australia , Belgium , Germany , Greece , the Netherlands , Sweden and the UK . Anastacia never came out in the homeland of the singer in the United States, despite plans to release it on August 30, 2005 with a track list different from the European version. For unknown reasons, the plans were canceled.

Background

In January 2003, when Anastacia was preparing for breast reduction surgery due to orthopedic reasons, she was diagnosed with breast cancer . Subsequently, the singer organized Anastacia Fund through The Breast Cancer Research Foundation to increase awareness of breast cancer among young women.

After this traumatic experience, Anastacia went to a recording studio to record Anastacia's album with Glen Ballard , Dallas Austin and Dave A. Stewart .

On her official website, Anastacia explained that the disease complicated the recording of the album:

“It was an unpleasant experience. Usually I look for the bright side of things, but so far there is nothing positive for me in this entry. My doctor told me that I was tired. I could not concentrate on anything. I wrote a verse, and then I can’t write a chorus, I wrote a chorus, but I can’t write a transition. I could not speak, I could not think, I was completely out of my mind. Doctors said that I was tired - of course, because I have insomnia. It was tough ... "

Commercial Success

Anastacia was a huge hit, reaching the pinnacle of album charts in eleven European countries, including Austria, Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Sweden, the UK, and # 2 in Ireland, Italy, Portugal and Spain. The first single from Left Outside Alone was also successful, reaching # 1 in Australia, Austria, Italy, Spain and Switzerland, and also made it to the Top 5 in several other countries and on the European Hot 100 Singles chart . Three more hits were also released from the album: Sick and Tired , Welcome to My Truth and Heavy on My Heart .
