After the Union of Lublin in 1569, the development of the Cossacks in the Commonwealth and in Ukraine went at a faster pace. The government of the Polish state began to actively intervene in this process. The first royal reform took place in 1570.
The organizer of the Cossack army was the crown hetman Jerzy Yazlovecki , who in 1572 appointed Jan Badovsky to command the Zaporizhzhya Army [1] [2] . During 1572-1575, he stood at the head of a registered Cossack detachment of 300 people.
He was a senior and judge of the grassroots Cossacks. The establishment of special administrative and court proceedings for the registered Cossacks was aimed at organizing control over the entire Cossacks. Jan Badovsky, with the help of the Cossacks who were accepted for service, was to restrain the remaining (unregistered) Cossacks from actions that would be contrary to state interests.
