Biography
Vasily Maslov was born on January 1, 1895 in the village of Vadinsk (now the Vadinsky district of the Penza region ). He graduated from elementary school. He served in the tsarist army. In December 1917, he voluntarily joined the Red Guard , in 1918 - the Worker and Peasant Red Army . He participated in the battles of the Civil War. After graduation, he continued to serve in the army. In 1925, Maslov graduated from battalion commander courses, in 1932 - from the Shot course . He participated in the Civil War in Spain. Since 1942 - on the fronts of World War II. In 1944, Maslov graduated from the Military Academy named after MV Frunze [1] .
By January 1945, Major General Vasily Maslov commanded the 323rd Infantry Division of the 33rd Army of the 1st Belorussian Front . He distinguished himself during the liberation of Poland . In the period from January 14 to 17, 1945, the Maslov division successfully broke through the powerful German defense from the Pulawski bridgehead and wedged into it 50 kilometers deep [1] .
By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated April 6, 1945, Major General Vasily Maslov was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the awarding of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal [1] .
After the war he continued his service in the Soviet Army. In 1958, Maslov was sacked. He lived in Solnechnogorsk . He died on May 22, 1979, is buried in Solnechnogorsk [1] .
Rewards
He was awarded two orders of Lenin, four orders of the Red Banner , orders of Suvorov 2nd degree and the Red Star , a number of medals [1] [2] .
Memory
In honor of Maslov, the street and school in Vadinsk are named [1] .
