History and Description
The stadium was built in 1976 to host the games of the 1978 World Cup . The stadium has a capacity of 57,000 spectators, while at the same time, seating is not provided for all of this, like many Argentinean stadiums.
Most football clubs in Cordoba have their own stadiums, but prefer to host their home matches in this stadium because of its size and comfort, especially the most important games for clubs because of their high attendance. As a rule, the Taglieres Football Club hosts guests at the stadium, but in addition, some of their home matches at the stadium are played by Belgrano , Instituto and Racing . Argentina's national football team also holds some of its home matches at this stadium.
In 2006 and 2007, the stadium hosted the special stages of the Rally Argentina , part of the World Rally Championship .
The 2011 American Football Cup was refurbished. October 6, 2010 the stadium was renamed in honor of the famous Argentine football player Mario Alberto Kempes .
