Biography
Born in the city of Kirov in a large family. Father - Anatoly Nikolayevich Afanasyev, actor, Honored Artist of the RSFSR .
He received his first theatrical mastery from his father, and served in the Pacific Fleet of the USSR Navy for four years.
He graduated from the Higher Director's Courses at the Lunacharsky State Institute of Theater Arts (now GITIS) .
In 1960, he began work at the Kirov Puppet Theater. At first he was an actor, then became a director. Since 1974 - the main director of the theater.
In total, more than 100 performances were staged on the stage of the theater under the leadership of Afanasyev (“Like Vyatka, across the river” by Yu. Batuev and K. Verkhotin, “Until the Third Cocks” by V. Shukshin ( 1978 ), “ Kashtanka ” by A. P. Chekhov ( 1980 ), Dunyashka ( 2009 ), etc.).
Died January 29, 2014 in Kirov.
