The 32nd Virginia was formed in May 1861 from the battalions of Montagu and Goggin. His companies were recruited in Hampton, Williamsburg, in the districts of Warwick, James City and York. The first commander of the regiment was Benjamin Ewell, brother of General Richard Ewell .

Battle Path
After the reorganization in May 1862, the regiment consisted of seven companies. He was included in the Paul Sems brigade and participated in the Seven Day Battle. He lost 1 person wounded at Savage Station, and 2 killed and 4 wounded at Malvern Hill .
During the Maryland campaign, the regiment was listed in the Mac Lowes division and participated in the attack of this division at Entity , where it lost 72 people out of 158. After the Entitym, the brigades were reorganized and the 32nd Virginia joined the Montgomery Corsay Virginia brigade.
