Biography

Born on October 2, 1974 in the city of Dzerzhinsk, Nizhny Novgorod Region . Russian. He studied at Dzerzhinsky school number 1.

In 1992 he graduated from the Kazan Suvorov Military School .

In the Armed Forces since 1992. In 1996 he graduated with honors from the Ryazan Higher Airborne Command School . He served in the Ulyanovsk Region , in the 31st Separate Guards Airborne Assault Brigade .

On August 16, 1999, he left for a special mission to the Republic of Dagestan .

On September 10, 1999, at night, during the liberation of the Andi settlement, Senior Lieutenant Roman Igoshin put forward a platoon close to the positions of the militants, opened their fire and defense system, which allowed the command to plan the battle. On September 11, 1999, during a battle, disguising a platoon in close proximity to the positions of the militants, it suddenly opened fire. Using the confusion of the rebels, he boldly and decisively attacked with a platoon, capturing two houses on the outskirts of the village, which formed the basis of the militants' defense. This allowed the main forces of the battalion to enter the village without loss.

On the night of November 16-17, 1999, during fights in the area of ​​the Andi settlement, a group of senior lieutenant R.V. Igoshin was ambushed and was surrounded by a group of militants. Rejecting the militants' offer to surrender, Senior Lieutenant Igoshin organized a all-round defense and led the battle until the last minute.

By a decree of the President of Russia dated March 23, 2000, for the courage and heroism shown in the performance of military duty in the Republic of Dagestan , Senior Lieutenant Igoshin Roman Viktorovich was awarded the title Hero of the Russian Federation (posthumously). The golden star was awarded to the hero’s mother in June 2000, Colonel General Georgy Shpak , Airborne Commander.

He was buried at the Zavolzhsky cemetery in Ulyanovsk.

He was awarded the Order of Courage and a golden watch.
