Biography
Ashley was 11 years old when she started playing the oboe in a school group after she was told that none of the other children would choose this instrument. She was not one of those who followed the trends, quickly mastered this instrument and instantly attracted the attention of the director of their group, who attracted her to playing the bass as a second instrument. Ashley immediately began taking private lessons in the game, and by the age of 13 she began to master the third instrument - double bass.
She played in all the music groups that were just in her school, including an orchestra, a jazz ensemble and a church choir. Ashley attended the prestigious Los Angeles County High School (Los Angeles High School) while studying on the arts profile. And along with this, she began to accept invitations to small performances in which even her teachers could not take part, she slipped through the back door into bars and made her way to the stage in any institution.
As music became more than a hobby for her, she continued to study bass and double bass at the California Institute of the Arts, focusing on jazz, latin and Afro-Cuban music, and working with mentors like Alphonso Johnson (Wayne Shorter, Weather Report), Todd Johnson (six-string bass) and double bass master Darek Oles ..
As soon as Ashley graduated from the institute in 2005, she immediately joined the world of indie rock, touring the world and recording music with bands such as Great Northern , Eulogies and My Jerusalem, as well as singer / songwriter Lindsey Ray, an artist from London Ed Harcourt and Beastie Boys' keyboardist - Money Mark, and that's not all.
