While in high school, he fought for Mustang High School and as part of this team in 1985 won the state title and was fourth in the US Junior Championships. In 1986 he won the "bronze" of the world championship among juniors. In 1987, he was third in the US Championship in the age category espoir . He graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in political science and economics. Since 2002, he worked as a financial consultant at Merrill Lynch . He is also a trainer (coached at the University of North Carolina, Sunkist Kids Wrestling Club, Dave Schultz School and Harvard University ) and the author of several wrestling manuals. [6] .
