Shtreisel on a pie reminds nuts
Confectionery chips ( Streisel , Streusel from German. Streusel , also sprinkled ) - the simplest decoration for desserts and pastries, popular in German pastries . The crumbs on the bakery in the form imitate the appearance of nuts. The composition of the shtrezel includes two parts of sugar, one part of fat ( margarine or butter ) and two parts of flour. Typically, vanilla, lemon, cinnamon , cocoa, or crushed hazelnuts are added for flavor. In the preparation of shtrezel flour is added last. To achieve the appropriate consistency of crumbs, it is not recommended to knead the dough for a long time so that it does not become stiff. Shtreyzel usually decorate fruit pies from apples and plums, as well as a pie with topping .
