Club career

Josip is a pupil of Zagreb Dynamo . In the spring of 2008, he was transferred to the main team.

In the summer of 2008, he was given a long-term lease to the Lokomotiv club, which since 2006 has been the Dynamo farm club. In the first season he spent 24 matches, scored 1 goal, and his club got the right to play in the First League . In January 2009, Josip signed a contract with Dynamo for a period of seven and a half years. On July 26, 2009, Pivaric made his debut in the top football division of Croatia in the match against Rijeka [3] . In the 2009/10 season, Josip took part in 9 meetings, the next year he firmly took a place in the starting lineup of Lokomotiv and played 29 matches.

At the end of 2011, taking into account the successful play of the defender, Dynamo decided to return Yosip from the lease. March 21, 2012 Pivarich held his first match for Dynamo [4] . At the end of the season, Dynamo won the league title.

In the 2012/13 season, Josip regularly leaves the main lineup as a left-back. July 18, 2012 in the match of the Second qualifying round of the Champions League against the Bulgarian “ Ludogorets ” Pivarich made his debut in European competition [5] . Dynamo managed to break into the group stage of the tournament, Josip took part in all 6 meetings of his club.

August 8, 2017 became a Dynamo player from Kiev [6] . On August 20, 2017 he made his debut for Dynamo Kiev against Steel , but after spending 7 minutes on the field, he was replaced due to a cut of his head, which he received in the fight for the ball with his rival footballer [7] .

In January 2019, during a training match against the Czech Sparta, he damaged the anterior cruciate ligaments of the knee, and therefore will miss the second half of the 2018/19 season [8] .

Career in the national team

From 2005 to 2009, Josip played for the youth and youth teams of Croatia. On August 14, 2013 he made his debut for the first team in a friendly match against the Liechtenstein team [9] .

At the 2018 World Cup, Ivan Strinich was the main left back of the Croatian national team, but Pivaric also played several matches and received silver awards with the national team.
