Biography
Born on May 14 ( May 26 ), 1898 in the village of Makkaveevo (now Ryazan Oblast ).
He graduated from the 1st Moscow State University in 1923, the special course of the Higher School of Aviation named after K. E. Voroshilov in 1932. He worked as a researcher at the Bukhara Tropical Institute from 1923 to 1925, then at the Moscow Regional Institute of Infectious Diseases from 1925 to 1927. Senior researcher at a special laboratory chemical research Institute of the Red Army from 1928 to 1934. He participated in the organization of the State Institute for control of veterinary biologics from 1931 to 1932. Head of the laboratory of microbiology of The AI Experimental Veterinary Medicine from 1932 to 1938. From 1937 to concurrently served in the state security organs of the USSR , where he was dismissed due to illness in 1951. Senior Researcher of Agricultural Sciences from 1939 to 1956. A member of the CPSU (b) since 1940. Since 1956 he headed the Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology. N.F. Gamalei .
He died on December 14, 1960 . He was buried in Moscow at the Novodevichy cemetery next to his son (plot number 8).
Scientific activity
The main scientific works are devoted to questions of general, medical and veterinary microbiology, in particular, phagoprophylaxis and therapy of infectious diseases. He developed and introduced into production methods for the manufacture and use of vaccines against emphysematous carbuncle in cattle . He proposed a quick method for microscopic diagnosis of rabies in animals (smears from the brain ), methods for growing pathogenic anaerobes with free access to air, and new methods for preparing semi-liquid vaccines against a number of animal infectious diseases. Developed a new method of vaccination against typhus . He dealt with issues of variability of microbes and the problem of immunity . He contributed to the implementation of the achievements of medicine in agricultural practice .
