Biography
Alexey Martsinkovsky was born on August 10, 1915 in Odessa . After graduating from the seven classes of the school and the school of factory apprenticeship, he worked at the Odessa meat processing plant. In 1935 - 1937 he served in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army. In 1941, Marcinkowski was re-drafted into the army. Since June of that year - on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War. In the battles he was seriously wounded. In 1942 he graduated from junior lieutenant courses [1] .
By April 1945, Captain Alexei Martsinkovsky was deputy artillery commander of the 109th Rifle Regiment of the 74th Rifle Division of the 26th Army of the 3rd Ukrainian Front . Distinguished during the liberation of Austria . On April 11, 1945, in a battle near the city of Oberwart, Marcinkowski led the actions of regiment artillerymen during the repulsion of the German counterattack. In that battle, he was injured, but continued to fight, even when the fight went into hand-to-hand combat. In that battle, Marcinkowski died. Buried at Oberwart [1] .
By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of May 15, 1946 for “courage and heroism shown in battles with the German invaders in the Great Patriotic War”, captain Alexey Martsinkovsky was posthumously awarded the high rank of Hero of the Soviet Union [1] .
He was also awarded the Orders of Lenin and the Patriotic War of the 1st degree, two orders of the Patriotic War of the 2nd degree, the Order of the Red Star [1] .
In honor of Marcinkowski named PTU at the Odessa meat processing plant [1] .
