Creative Biography
Zagid Valeevich Khabibullin, a Tatar composer, violinist, was born on September 20, 1910 in the city of Orsk [2] in the Orenburg Region. Early left without parents.
Since 1919 he was brought up in an orphanage.
In 1927 he entered the Kazan Music College in the violin class of A. A. Litvinov. After graduating from a music college, he worked as a violinist and head of the musical part of the working theater of the Kazan Flax Mill. There he began to compose his first songs and works for theatrical productions.
In 1934 he entered the 2nd year of the composer’s department of the labor faculty at the Moscow Conservatory in the class of Professor M.F. Gnesin . A year later he transferred to a music school, after which he continued his studies (1936-1940) at the Tatar Opera Studio in the class of G.I. Litinsky [3] .
During his studies in Kazan and Moscow, Z. Khabibullin met with prominent cultural figures S. Saidashev , F. Yarullin , M. Jalil , H. Taktash . It was the Moscow period of life for the composer that became the most fruitful. During these years, Z. Khabibullin wrote various works: songs (over 50), plays for individual instruments, and processing of folk songs. The composer's work played a significant role in the formation and development of the song genre in the Tatar musical culture.
In 1940, Z. Khabibullin returned to Kazan, worked in the instrumental ensemble of the Tatar State Philharmonic Society [4] .
In 1941, Khabibullin was drafted into the ranks of the Red Army . While in the army, the composer continues to engage in creativity. From the works of the war years, the songs “Dzhigit-Partisan” to the words of N. Arslanov, “Team Forward” to the verses by A. Kutuy , “To the Fighter” to the folk words stand out.
In 1942, the composer was recalled from the military unit and transferred to Kazan.
In the postwar years, Z. Khabibullin created the processing of folk songs and wrote original songs for the Tatar song and dance ensemble, such as: “Sabantuy”, “Friendship”, “My Flowers”, “Wedding”.
The composer wrote two ballets. In 1950, together with composer N.I. Peyko, he completed the ballet Spring Winds based on the novel of the same name by K. Najmi . In 1960 he completed his second ballet “Raushan”, based on the motives of Tatar folk tales by G. Tukay . In 1974, the composer presented the second edition of the ballet under the name "Enchanted Boy" [2] .
For many years Z. Khabibullin combined composer activity with performing. He actively participated in the musical and social life of the republic and the country, performed with author’s concerts.
