Early years
Todd Lichty was born in Walnut Creek , California , and attended Mount Diablo Concord School, where he played for the local basketball team.
Student career
In 1989, Lichty graduated from Stanford University , where for four years he played for the Stanford Cardinal team, in which he had a successful career, scored 2336 points, 652 rebounds, 304 assists, 156 interceptions and 26 block shots, becoming her top scorer [ 1] . Under Lichty, the Cardinal never won either the regular championship of the Pacific-10 conference or the tournament of the Pacific-10 conference [2] [3] [4] , and only once went into the playoffs of the US student championship (1989), however they didn’t go further than the first round [5] .
NBA Career
He played as an attacking defender . In 1989, he was selected by the NBA draft under the 15th number by the Denver Nuggets team. He later played for the teams Orlando Magic , Golden State Warriors and Boston Celtics . In total, the NBA spent 5 seasons. In 1989, he joined the 2nd All-American National Team of the NCAA [1] . In total, during his career in the NBA he played 237 games in which he scored 1870 points (an average of 7.9 per game), made 505 rebounds , 325 assists , 179 interceptions and 45 block shots .
Lichty spent his best years as an NBA player at the Nuggets, in the ranks of which he played for four seasons (1989-1993). In the debut season, he played 79 games, gaining an average of 8.0 points per match and making 1.9 rebounds and 1.5 assists. The best season of his career was the 1990/1991 season , in which he played only 29 matches due to a knee injury, with 25 of them playing in the starting lineup, gaining an average of 14.0 points per game and making 3.9 rebounds and 2.5 gears [6] .
Various injuries, including a serious car accident in which his bride died, Kirstin Gravrock from Bellevue ( Washington ), later prevented him from playing in the NBA at a competitive level, so at the end of the 1993/1994 season , in which he managed to to play in three different teams without having spent more than five matches in each of them, Lichty decided to end his career in the league [6] .
Foreign career
Two years later, Lichty moved to Australia , where he played for the Perth Wildcats team in the National Basketball League for four seasons (1996-1999), where he went at the invitation of his former Stanford Cardinal student team member Andrew Vlakhova , a native of Perth . During his quite successful overseas career, he spent 82 matches, gaining an average of 16.8 points, 5.4 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.6 interceptions per game.
