Katran Stevena , or Crimean horseradish ( Latin Crámbe steveniána ) is a species of the genus Katran ( Crambe ) of the Cabbage family ( Brassicaceae ).

Botanical descriptionPerennial herbaceous plant up to 1 m.
The leaves are large, up to 30 cm long, long-petiolate, pinnate.
Entomofil . Inflorescences loose, spreading, collected 10-20 flowers. The flowers are white, bisexual. Flowering in May -June, fruiting in July.
Fruits - tetrahedral rounded pods [2] [3] .
Distribution and habitatIt lives in Eastern Europe [3] . In Russia, it is found in the North Caucasus , in the Krasnodar Territory and in the Republic of Crimea.
Petrophyte , xeromesophyte , heliofit , hemicryptophyte . It dwells on plains, slopes, carbonate rocks, chernozem soils, and is found in steppe communities [3] .
Security StatusRare view. Listed in the Red Book of Russia ; Red Books of Krasnodar and Stavropol Territories [4] , as well as the Red Book of Ukraine [5] .
It is dying out due to the grazing of livestock in the places of its growth and the collection of the population for food.
