Wistin Abela ( born Wistin Abela ; October 19, 1933 , Zeytun , Malta - January 20, 2014 , Malta ) - Maltese politician, Deputy Prime Minister (1981-1982), Minister of Finance (1983-1987).

Biography
In the years 1966-1996, Abela was a member of the Parliament of Malta [1] [2] [3] . In 1971, he was appointed parliamentary secretary for finance under the Prime Minister Dominique Mintoff , in 1974 - the Minister for Development, and in 1976 became responsible for energy, ports and telecommunications [1] .
In 1981-1982 he was Deputy Prime Minister of Malta [1] [2] [3] , Deputy Chairman of the Labor Party [3] , and then, until 1987, he was Minister of Finance [4] [5] . In 1987-1992 he was in opposition, was the Minister of Armed Forces and Energy in the shadow government [1] .
In 1959, Uistin Abela married Katherine Abela; the couple had three children: Marjon, Carmeline and Licius [1] .
