Biography

After graduating from high school in Taganrog , in May 1921 he joined the ranks of the Red Army. In 1925 he graduated from the school of commanders.

In the years 1932-1937 he studied at the command department of the Military Academy of Mechanization and Motorization of the Red Army named after I.V. Stalin in Moscow, after which he was appointed commander of a tank battalion with the rank of senior lieutenant.

Member of World War II. The outbreak of the war was met as chief of staff of the 26th Panzer Division of the 20th Mechanized Corps of the Western Military Military District in Borisov .

Since June 1941, he fought on the Western Front near Minsk , Smolensk , participated in the battle for Moscow , where he was wounded on November 28, 1941.

From May 1942 - Chief of Staff of the tank brigade, then the tank division. December 15, 1943 received the rank of Major General of the tank forces.

From May 1943 to May 1944 - Head of the Saratov Tank School.

In May 1944 he was sent to serve in the Polish army. May 26, 1944 became commander of the armored and mechanized units of the 1st Army of the Polish Army . Since September 8, 1944 - the commander of the 1st tank corps of the Polish Army, with the assignment of the rank - Brigadier General.

He took part, in particular, in the battles for Nise in Silesia.

Then in 1944-1945 - Commander-in-chief of tank and mechanized troops of the Polish People’s Army. On August 9, 1945 he was promoted to lieutenant general. In 1945-1946 - Deputy Chief Inspector of the tank forces of the Polish People’s Army.

On April 1, 1946 he finished his service in the Polish armed forces and returned to the Soviet Union. He was appointed deputy commander of one of the military districts, later - deputy chief of the Higher Officer Tank Courses "Shot".

Since 1961 - retired.

He was buried at the Krasnenkoye cemetery in St. Petersburg, next to his wife O. Volokh-Kimbar (1912-1972), an opera artist, Honored Artist of the RSFSR.
