Biography

Born on August 1, 1897 in Dvinsk in a petty bourgeois family of Jewish origin. Received secondary education in the city real school. Since 1915 in Moscow, where he continued his education at the electromechanical department in the 2nd Moscow technical school. For participation in the revolutionary movement expelled from the 2nd year. Earned a living by tutoring. During the February Revolution, he took part in the disarmament of the police, then in 1917 he joined the CPSU (B.). He took part in the October armed uprising in Moscow .

Member of the Civil War, he entered the fighter in the artillery howitzer division, then was promoted to military commissar posts:
- Commissioner of the division,
- Commissioner of artillery of the 14th division [1] ,
- military commissar, military commissar of the 14th Rifle Division of the Red Army (12.24.1919 - 02.28.1920) [2] ,
- the commissar of the 16th cavalry division (07/13/1920 - 08/13/1920),
- the commissar of the 2nd Stavropol Cavalry Division [3]
- military commissar of the 2nd Cavalry Army (08/13/1920 - 1921).

In 1920, in battles with Wrangel’s troops, Commissioner Efuni personally led the soldiers to attack [4] , and was twice wounded [5] . For military exploits he was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of the RSFSR. [6]

In November 1922, he assumed the post of military commissar and commander of the Special Forces of the Dagestan Republic. From August 1923, he served as Deputy People's Commissar of Dagestan, from September 1925 at work in Grozneft, managing new fields, a member of the Supreme Economic Council of the USSR. In 1931 he was recalled to Moscow in connection with the appointment of the deputy head of the Main Directorate of the Oil Industry of the NKTP USSR [5] . In 1931, the name of Naum Davidovich Efuni (badge of the Order No. 56) was also named in the first list of the highest USSR awards of the Order of Lenin.

He lived in the city of Moscow, on Smolensky Boulevard No. 17-50. May 28, 1937 was arrested on charges of sabotage and participation in an anti-Soviet terrorist organization. Shot on November 26, 1937. The burial place is located at the Don cemetery. Rehabilitated October 29, 1955 VKVS USSR [7] .

Interesting Facts

Marshal of the Soviet Union K. Meretskov during the Civil War, he served as assistant chief of staff of the 14th Infantry Division. In his memoirs, he devoted several lines to the military commissar of the brigade Efuni, who in one of the battles picked up a wounded Meretskov knocked out of the saddle and saved him from the pursuing Cossacks [8] .

Wife - Efuni, Vera Sergeevna (09.17.1908, Grozny - 05.22.1988, Moscow), Russian. Convicted on December 4, 1937, the CCA under the NKVD of the USSR Sentence: 8 years of ITL, in Akmola LO. Son - Efuni, Sergey Naumovich . Son - Yuri, a participant in the Great Patriotic War.
