Andreas Thom ( German: Andreas Thom ; born September 7, 1965 , Rüdersdorf , East Germany ) - German footballer . Currently an assistant to the head coach of the Hertha club. Known for playing for Dynamo (Berlin) , Bayer 04 and Celtic . He played for the national teams of the GDR and Germany .

Club career

In professional football, Tom made his debut at the Dynamo club (Berlin) , where he spent seven seasons, during which time he became the champion of the GDR five times and won two GDR Cups , in 1988 he was recognized as the footballer of the year in the GDR . After the fall of the Berlin Wall, he moved to Bayer 04 , where he spent five years and won the German Cup . In 1995 he moved to the Scottish Celtic , with which he became the champion of Scotland , after three years in the Celtic he returned to the German championship, to the Berlin Hertha , in which he ended his career in 2001.

Team Career

As part of the national team of the GDR, Tom made his debut on October 10, 1984 in a match with the national team of Algeria . In total, the GDR team held 51 matches, in which he scored 16 goals. After the unification of Germany, he began to play for the German national team , which included 10 matches and scored 2 goals. He was part of the national team at the 1992 European Championship , where Germany won silver medals.

Coaching career

After completing his career as a football player, Tom became an assistant coach at Hertha , and for two weeks (in three championship matches) he acted as head coach. Then he worked as an assistant at the Holstein club, but soon returned to Hertha, where since 2010 he has been the coach of the youth team.
