Biography
He graduated from the St. Petersburg Theological Academy and the Archaeological Institute .
From 1900 he taught history, Latin , and then Ukrainian in Kiev gymnasiums.
Member of the “ Old Community ”. He worked in the publishing house "Century". Printed in the "Literary and Scientific Bulletin" and a number of Kiev magazines and newspapers under the pseudonym V. Potochny.
During the UNR , he acted as vice-director of the department of the Ministry of Religions.
In the first half of the 1920s - an employee of the historical section of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences. In 1925-1928 - teacher of the Ukrainian language for employees. Since 1926 - Member of the editor of the socio-economic department of the Institute of Ukrainian Scientific Language VUAN , was also chairman of the planning and methodological commissions of the Institute.
One of the co-authors of the normative Russian-Ukrainian “Dictionary of the Business Language. Terminology and phraseology "(Ukrainian." Word list of movi. Terminology and phraseology ") (1930), which contained about 15,000 Russian terms and phraseological units. "Dictionary ..." contributed to the improvement of Ukrainian business terminology, combining the Galician - Bukovina and East Ukrainian development trends.
Repressed in the case of the Union of Liberation of Ukraine . Condemned to expulsion from Ukraine for 3 years without deprivation of rights. Punishment served in Voronezh , where he taught Latin.
From 1944 to 1961 - teacher of Ukrainian and Latin languages in the Vinnitsa Pedagogical Institute .
Rehabilitated in 1989.
