Protochrysa fuscobasalis

Protochrysa fuscobasalis (lat.) Is a fossil species of retina of the genus Protochrysa from the family of lacewing ( Chrysopidae ). Known for early Eocene sediments from western North America ( Canada , British Columbia ; McAbee, Okanagan Highlands, age about 53 Ma) [1] .

Description

The wing size is 16.0 × 5.4 mm. Together with other fossilized lacewings, such as Okanaganochrysa coltsunae , Adamsochrysa aspera , Adamsochrysa wilsoni , Archaeochrysa profracta , Chrysopa glaesaria and Leucochrysa prisca , are some of the oldest representatives of Chrysopidae . The taxon was first described in 2013 by Russian entomologist Vladimir Makarkin ( Biology and Soil Institute, Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences , Vladivostok ) and Canadian paleoentomologist Bruce Archibald (Archibald S. Bruce .; Department of Biological Sciences, Simon Fraser University, Burnaby, British Columbia; Royal BC Museum , Victoria, Canada ) [1] [2] .
