Borgia proavus (lat.) Is a fossil species of retinal-winged insects from the genus Borgia of the Ascalaphidae family . Found in the Oligocene deposits of Europe, Germany [1] , in the brown coal of the Rhine brown coal basin. Together with other fossil species of Ascalafs, such as Ululodes paleonesia , Ascaloptynx oligocenicus , Mesascalaphus yangi , Neadelphus protae , Prosuhpalacsa biamoensis , Ricartus edwardsi and Amoea electrodominicana , are one of the most ancient representatives of the recent American period paleoentomologists Michael Angel ( Engel M. ) and David Grimaldi ( Grimaldi DA ) [1] [2] [3] .
