The Narragansett language is a dead Native American language belonging to the eastern branch of the Algonkin subfamily of the Algian language family , spoken by representatives of the Narragansett ethnic group (who lived in the territory of modern Rhode Island and Connecticut in the United States). It was closely associated with other languages of the Algonquin family in New England - Massachusetts and Mohegan-pekot . Extinct in the 19th century.
