Biography

Martino Longhi was born in Rome to a family of architects . His grandfather Martino Longhi Sr. performed many buildings in Rome. Martino's father Honorio was also an outstanding architect. After the death of the latter in 1619 , Martino got the unfinished work of his father on the church of San Carlo al Corso , with which he successfully coped. The project of the church may have been developed by his grandfather. By 1625, Longi published his treatise on architecture. Then he was in the Academy of St. Luke . In the 1630s, Martino was engaged in the construction of the church of Sant'Antonio de Portogezi . In 1644, he designed the facade of the church of San Giovanni Calibita . In 1645, they began the construction of the striking façade of San Vincenzo e Anastasio a Trevi . In the 1650s, Longhi was engaged in the reconstruction of the now destroyed San Adriano.

Martino Longhi died in Lombardy in 1660 and was buried there in the city of Wiju . He had no children: it seems that he, like some of his contemporaries, suffered from a lack of sociability.
