A small fish up to 7 cm long. Males, as a rule, are larger than females and have a bright blue color, and females and young are silvery. A feature of the species is the ability to survive in conditions of extreme salinity, pH and temperature, and low oxygen content. It lives in shallow water bodies of desert territories. Omnivorous.
