Biography
In 1940 he graduated from the Physics and Mathematics Department of the Tomsk Teachers' Institute with a degree in physics and mathematics, with qualification and the title of teacher with the right to teach in the first seven grades of high school (diploma No. 482740, reg. No. 906, dated August 5, 1940). In 1951 he graduated from Kharkov Law Institute .
In 1940-1942 he taught in the village of Porotnikovo, Bakcharsky district , Novosibirsk region (now Tomsk region ). Member of World War II. As a result of the wound, he was demobilized, recognized as a disabled person of the 2nd group.
Since 1946 - a senior research fellow, since 1953 - the head of the department of photographic and physical studies of material evidence of the Kharkov Research Institute of Forensics.
Since 1962 - associate professor, since 1965 - and. about. Head of the Department of Criminology, Kharkov Law Institute.
During 1970-1988 - Head of the Department of Criminology of the Kiev Higher School of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the USSR. From 1988 to 2003 - professor of the Department of Forensics, Forensic Medicine and Psychiatry of the National Law Academy of Ukraine named after Yaroslav the Wise .
In 1996, he headed the laboratory “Using the achievements of science and technology in the fight against crime” at the Scientific Research Institute for the Study of Crime Problems of the Academy of Natural Sciences of Ukraine (Kharkov), and since 1999 he has been the chief specialist of this institute.
Scientific activity
The main areas of scientific research are problems of the general theory of forensic science , forensic identification , forensic technology.
He made a significant contribution to the development of certain branches of forensic technology: forensic photography, odorology , forensic acoustics .
The author of more than 240 scientific papers and 3 certificates of authorship for inventions, a number of methods for studying material evidence, proposed a new method of measuring photography and identification of sound recording devices, constructed a forensic metric camera FSM-1.
He raised a number of well-known forensic scientists, trained 3 doctors and 46 candidates of legal sciences.
