At age 22, Pierce suffered a severe head injury . He got it during a halfpipe training in Park City , Utah . The treatment was at the University of Utah Hospital. By 2011, Kevin recovered almost completely and continued to snowboard. But he soon announced that he would no longer take part in competitions [1] .
