Slovenia Ice Hockey Federation

Slovenia Hockey Association ( Slovene. Hokejska zveza Slovenije is an organization that organizes hockey competitions in Slovenia . The association was formed in 1992 , a member of the International Ice Hockey Federation since 6 May 1992. There are 8 clubs registered in the country (about 943 players) more than 220 of them are adults), 6 Sports Palaces and one open area with artificial ice. The largest halls: Hala Podmejaklo - 4,300 places in Jesenica and Tiva - 3,000 places in Ljubljana .

Slovenia Championship has been held since 1992 . 6 to 8 teams took part in the tournaments (cities - Jesenice , Ljubljana , Bled , Tsele , Kranj ). Champions: 1992 - Yesenice HC, 1993 and 1994 - Akron (Jesenice), 1995-1997 - Olimpia (Ljubljana), 1998 - Olimpia Hertz (Ljubljana).

The national team of Slovenia held the first international match on November 7, 1992 in Zagreb against the national team of Croatia , and won 15: 1. The best achievement of the team at the world championships - the second place in the group "B" in 1998 . The team did not play at the Winter Olympics . Slovenia's national team debuted at the World Championships in Group C in 1993 and played in this group again in 1997 , when, taking second place, the team won a ticket to Group B.
